The fight at Krest's marine research center is good, with Bond throwing one guy into a drawer full of maggots, and dropping another guy into a tank with an electric eel.We've seen a lot of dead women throughout the Bond series, but this seems grimmer than most, somehow. She was so vibrant and bubbly just five minutes ago, and now she's dead with her eyes wide open. Felix getting mauled is still a pretty grisly scene.Benicio del Toro (who is only twenty-two years old here) brings a great sense of intensity and sadism to the role of Dario, and Anthony Zerbe (Milton Krest) really makes me believe he's a boozy, amoral piece of shit.Gladys Knight's 'Licence to Kill' has an epic feel. Snagging his plane in midair is a good stunt (good enough to be imitated in The Dark Knight Rises twenty-three years later), and Bond and Felix parachuting down to the wedding is a great way to launch into the title sequence, dynamic with its images of dancing girls, smoking guns, and spinning roulette wheels.

Sanchez sets the tone for the sort of villain he's going to be in the first moments of the pre-titles sequence, whipping Lupe with a stingray tail and ordering a man's heart cut out.
